Facility Type : -  R & D Laboratory
Project Duration : -  10 Months
Project Cost : -  Rs. 300 million

Key Project Features:

Johnson & Johnson wanted to set up the global research & development laboratory facility for Solids, Liquids & Ointments for its pharmaceutical business in India.

The facility mainly comprised of following sections –

  • Analytical Laboratory
  • Wet Chemistry Lab
  • Administrative Area
  • Utility Area
  • Stability  Study Area
  • PBOEL 4 Sampling Facility

The Project was done in existing building. Approx. area of the facility is 18000 Square feet. Facility was designed for 40 Chemists.

The lab was equipped with 60 HPLCs & 4 Stability Chambers with all associated utilities.

Project Execution:

This project was completed in record time of 10 Months.

This was a unique project executed by Spectrum, as there were specific EHS & QUALITY design guidelines to be followed right from the design stage. Subsequent to the completion, the entire facility was qualified as against those corporate guidelines.

The major constraint in this project was, the building was 30-Year-old structure & the clear height available between finished floor and the ceiling was 3.6 mtrs. & it was a big challenge to accommodate the HVAC & other utilities in that cramped space. But despite of all these odds the facility was much appreciated by end users.

Second most important feature of this lab was the sampling facility created for PBOEL4 category API. This was a unique and efficient design & Spectrum was first to implement it.

Another challenge was to convert the Electrical LT supply into HT supply. This task was executed in a very well planned manner. The total job was completed with just 30 minutes shutdown as that was the only time available to avoid deviations in stability chambers.
