Spectrum partnered with a US Based Architectural Firm for this project. Spectrum’s role was to review the designs submitted by Egyptian A/E firm to ensure the engineering compliance & to maintain the constructability.
The project was to set up a plant for manufacturing baby diapers. It was a large project involving six hundered thousand square feet of built up area & twenty five hundered thousands Sq. ft of plot size.
The entire project was designed with Pre Engineered Metal Building (PEMB’s). The classic design approach was followed for this project. All the detailed engineering work was completed before releasing the tender packages to contractors.
Spectrum has gained an excellent exposure to pre engineered metal buildings & gained valuable insight on how to optimize the cost in such a large project.
Another important task was to complete all detailing tasks including the smaller ones as the Pre Engineered metal building was being imported in the knock down structure from China hence the concept of zero site work was followed right from the beginning. This constraint compelled the design team to brainstorm & accommodate every single detail for all the equipment placement & building penetrations & other structural detailing.
Some of the critical considerations in PEMB’s are Wind Load, Dead Load, Live Load, collateral Load, Seismic Load, Impact Load, Wind Speed, Crane Load, Ridge Height, Span, Clear Height, Bracing Design - Primary & Secondary Members, etc. |
